Green Energy Expo

gpsHOW the Tennessee State Fair is going green?  Repurposing used cooking oils, composting animal waste, recycling paper & plastics...and so much more!

Our green initiative highlights green power & recycling. Every industry has unique circumstances around becoming greener. Agriculture is in many ways the original green business. What a better place to start than at Tennessee's largest agricultural event.

Clean Cities of Middle TennesseeOur Green Energy Expo will walk attendees through recycling cardboard, plastic, and paper as well as see cooking oil converted to bio diesel, learn about composting and see wind technology and solar power on display. The Expo will feature leaders in sustainability from all across the state, including the Department of Energy, Agriculture, Tourism, and many others. Students from Lipscomb, MTSU, Vanderbilt, Tennessee Tech, and UT-Knoxville will all be on hand to showcase their advances in green technology and agri-science.

The Tennessee State Fair is a great place to showcase technologies and methods that help the agriculture industry remain viable, profitable and sustainable. With our vision of bringing Tennesseans closer to environmental sustainability, the Green Energy Expo is bound to be a success.  The Green Energy Expo is powered by the Green Power Switch, a TVA renewable energy initiative.  Located at the top of the hill in the Ag Zone, start your journey with new ideas about composting corn cobs and recycling plastic and paper throughout your day.  The trolley drops you off conveniently at the Expo!

aw“We are encouraged by the emphasis on sustainability at this year’s Tennessee State Fair,” said Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation Commissioner Jim Fyke. “Fair goers will benefit from being able to experience a variety of innovative technologies that support great energy efficiency and the use of clean, renewable power on the farm and in their neighborhood.”

Don't miss the opportunity to witness this fun & educational opportunity of how to make our neighborhood a “greener” place.
